Plantain seeds (mainly from Plantago ovata or Plantago major) are small, brownish or black, oval, and slightly shiny seeds. They are especially known as psyllium when they come from Plantago ovata.
Size and appearance: very small (about 2 mm), light, with an outer shell rich in mucilage.
Texture: when in contact with water, they swell and form a viscous gel.
Taste: neutral, slightly herbal.
